It\u2019s important not to forget animals though \u2013 they are just as deserving of kindness and respect as people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Having an animal in the family can be great fun for children, and really helps to develop their ability to care and empathize. Children interact with dogs differently from adults \u2013 they are louder and are often more physical in showing affection. While this might be seen as cute, it can be stressful for beagles, who just like humans, do not have an endless supply of patience.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bluecross.org.uk\/pet-advice\/be-safe-dogs\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.bluecross.org.uk\/pet-advice\/be-safe-dogs\">Learn to recognize the signs<\/a>\u00a0of an irritated, anxious, or scared dog, and teach these to your kids \u2013 this is when a dog is most likely to snap, so make sure they know to back off.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Ground_Rules\"><\/span>Ground Rules<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Children will copy and learn from how adults act around them, so\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.shieldmypet.com\/21-fun-tips-to-help-teach-kids-to-respect-animals-today\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"http:\/\/www.shieldmypet.com\/21-fun-tips-to-help-teach-kids-to-respect-animals-today\">always set a good example<\/a>. Be polite to your beagle dog, and make sure your children treat them like a person\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.rspca.org.uk\/adviceandwelfare\/pets\/dogs\/company\/children\/safe\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.rspca.org.uk\/adviceandwelfare\/pets\/dogs\/company\/children\/safe\">rather than a toy<\/a>. Just as people do not like to be disturbed when they are sleeping, beagles prefer to rest uninterrupted. Designate a \u201csafe space\u201d for your beagle, probably his crate or basket, and teach your kids not to bother him when he\u2019s there. Your beagle will quickly learn that if he wants to be left alone, this is where to go.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Fun_and_Games\"><\/span>Fun and Games<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Some simple games can also help to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/drsophiayin.com\/blog\/entry\/kids-and-dogs-how-kids-should-and-should-not-interact-with-dogs\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/drsophiayin.com\/blog\/entry\/kids-and-dogs-how-kids-should-and-should-not-interact-with-dogs\/\">enforce good behavior on both sides<\/a>. A game of fetch is fun for everyone, but make sure your kids know that, like if they were playing with other children, snatching toys isn\u2019t okay. Equally, your beagle should be well-trained to give up a toy gently and without acting possessive.
